It is a matter of great pride that Vidya Dan Samiti, Gadag is completing 100 years of its exemplary services in the field of Education. Samiti boasts of educating many successful Scientists, Teachers, Artists, Doctors, Judges, Lawyers, Sports Persons, Finance Professionals, Poets, Literary Scholars, Politicians, Industrialists, Businessmen, Software Engineers and other professionals and above all very responsible citizens.
It was in 1920, when freedom struggle was at its peak, Honourary Magistrate Shri N.V.Huilgol (Sab Narayanrao) and Shri. Narayanrao Huilgol, Composer of great Nada Geete “Udayavagali Namma Cheluva Kannada Naadu” and writer of many dramas along with other members of the 'Young Men Football Club' got the idea of starting an Educational Institution. The prize money collected from Football matches along with the fund collected from Dramas became the initial capital for the establishment of Vidya Dan Samiti. Shri. S.K. Huilgol, Shri. G.G. Paage, Shri M. B. Kulkarni, Shri Narayanrao Gudi, Shri. Dharmarao Huilgol, Shri. Bheemrao Huilgol, Smt. Manoramabai Huilgol, and many more joined hands for the noble cause. Head masters like Shri. G.K. Hungund, Dr. Da. Ra. Bendre, National Awardee Shri. KSN Iyangar, Renowned critic Shri. Keertinath Kurtakoti have been instrumental in its very strong growth.
The school started with Single Teacher (G. K. Shirahatti) and Eight Students in a rented building, soon acquired large chunk of land and built class rooms, science lab, function hall, library etc. Samiti expanded from a school to PU College, B.Ed. College, Fine Art College and is presently running Ten Institutions.
Vidya Dan Samiti has constituted a committee of present Management and past students in order to have a memorable Centenary Celebration. The committee is being managed under the dynamic leaders and past students of the Institution. We have invited Padmashree Dr. Sudha Murty, Founder, Infosys Foundation for inauguration of the function. Many Dignitaries along with dignitaries among old students will also be a part of this Event.
It is the desire of the past students to build an Educational Complex on this occasion. Samiti has finalized a building plan for the same and the memorial will cost Rs. 10 crores. In the first phase, we have decided to name each class room (Hall) in the memory of the illustrious past principals and great poets and literatures like G. K. Hungund, Dr. Da. Ra. Bendre, National Awardee KSN Iyangar, Keertinath Kurtakoti, H. S. Huilgol, V. S. Kulkarni, H. M. Inamdar, V.D. Purantar, N. G. Hulagi, S. N. Sawkar, B. T. Kulkarni, M. S. Kulkarni, L. B. Kulkarni, K. G. Kulkarni, Smt. L. H. Dudihalli and many others.
We therefore request the past students and well-wishers to generously contribute towards the great cause which will help in remembering our great teachers. We have decided to publish the names of the donors, which will be displayed in a plaque in a prominent place in the new building.

"ನ ಹಿ ಜ್ಞಾನೇನ ಸದೃಶಂ ಪವಿತ್ರಮಿಹ ವಿದ್ಯತೆ" ಜ್ಞಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಮತ್ತೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪರಮಪವಿತ್ರ. ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯ ಈ ಅಮರ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಧ್ಯೇಯವನ್ನಾಗಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಈಗ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿದೆಯೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತಪಡಿಸಲು ಸಂತೋಷ ಹಾಗೂ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯೆನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಾದ ತಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಹಾಯ, ಸಹಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹವನ್ನು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಈ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತಾಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
೧೯೨೦ನೇ ಇಸ್ವಿ, ಭಾರತ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ ಸಂಗ್ರಾಮ ತೀವ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟ, ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿಯ ಉಜ್ವಲ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಾಭಿಮಾನಿ ಸುಶಿಕ್ಷಿತ ಯುವಕರ ತಂಡವಾದ "ಯಂಗ್‌ಮೆನ್ಸ್ ಫುಟ್‌ಬಾಲ್ ಕ್ಲಬ್" ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಾಕಿತು. ಆಗಿನ ಹಾನರರಿ ಮ್ಯಾಜಿಸ್ಟ್ರೇಟ್‍ರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಶ್ರೀ ಎನ್. ವ್ಹಿ. ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ (ಸಾಬ ನಾರಾಯಣರಾಯರು) ಹಾಗೂ "ಉದಯವಾಗಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಚೆಲುವ ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡು" ನಾಡಗೀತೆ ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯ ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ನಾರಾಯಣರಾಯರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ೧೯೨೦ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಸ್ವತಃ ಕವಿ, ನಾಟಕಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪ್ರೇಮಿ ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ನಾರಾಯಣರಾಯರು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠತೆ, ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸುಧಾರಣೆ, ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳ ನಿವಾರಣೆಯಂಥ ಪ್ರಗತಿಪರ ಧ್ಯೇಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಂಬಿಸುವ ಹಲವಾರು ನಾಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ಬರೆದು, ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ, ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸುತ್ತ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿತ ಹಣವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿನಿಯೋಗಿಸಿದರು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಈ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿದ ಸರ್ವಶ್ರೀ ಎಸ್.ಕೆ. ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ, ಜಿ.ಜಿ.ಪಾಗೆ, ನಾರಾಯಣರಾವ ಗುಡಿ, ಎಂ. ಬಿ. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ಧರ್ಮರಾಯರು, ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ಭೀಮರಾಯರು, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಮನೋರಮಾಬಾಯಿ ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ಮುಂತಾದವರು ಸ್ಮರಣಾರ್ಹರು. ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ, ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಬದ್ಧತೆ ಮೂಲಕ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ರಾಜ್ಯಮಟ್ಟದೆತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಂಡೊಯ್ದ ಸರ್ವಶ್ರೀ ಜಿ.ಕೆ.ಹುನಗುಂದ, ಜ್ಞಾನಪೀಠ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ ವರಕವಿ ಡಾ. ದ.ರಾ.ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ವಿಜೇತ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್.ಎನ್. ಅಯ್ಯಂಗಾರ, ಎಚ್.ಎಸ್.ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ, ಖ್ಯಾತ ವಿಮರ್ಶಕ ಕೀರ್ತಿನಾಥ ಕುರ್ತಕೋಟಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಗಮನಾರ್ಹ. ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆಯ ಕಳಸವಿಟ್ಟ ಈ ಮಹನೀಯರ ಸೇವೆ ಪ್ರಶಂಸನೀಯ.
೧೯೨೦ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾಡಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಿ. ಕೆ ಶಿರಹಟ್ಟಿ ಎಂಬ ಓರ್ವ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ ಮತ್ತು ಎಂಟು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಂದ ಆರಂಭಗೊoಡ ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿ ಇಂದು ಗದಗ-ಬೆಟಗೇರಿಯ ಹೃದಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಹದಿನೈದು ಎಕರೆ ವಿಸ್ತಾರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಶುವಿಹಾರದಿಂದ ಮೊದಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಎರಡು ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ, ಬಾಲಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾಲಕಿಯರಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಗಳು, ಪದವಿ ಪೂರ್ವ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ, ಚಿತ್ರಕಲಾ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಹೀಗೆ ಹತ್ತು ಶಾಲೆ-ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳು ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ.
ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಗತಿಪರ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಗೆ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಸಹೃದಯತೆ, ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹದಾಯಕ ಸಲಹೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಧೀರೇಂದ್ರ ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿಯ ಸರ್ವ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗೀಣ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗಾಗಿ ಅವಿರತವಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮೌಲ್ಯಾಧಾರಿತ, ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಭರಿತ, ಆಧುನಿಕ-ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯುಕ್ತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪಠ್ಯಪೂರಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಾಭಿಮಾನ, ಪರಿಸರ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ರೂಢಿಸಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಭಾವಿ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅಣಿಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಆಶಯ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಉತ್ತರೋತ್ತರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯರ ಪಾಲಿದೆ. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಋಣಭಾರ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮೇಲಿದೆ. ಕಾಲಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಾಯ, ಸಹಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತ ಬಂದಿರುವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಚಿರಋಣಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಅದರ ಘನತೆಗೆ ಶೋಭಿಸುವ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಔಚಿತ್ಯಪೂರ್ಣ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಎಲ್ಲ ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಇದೇ 2022ರ ನವ್ಹೆಂಬರ 12 ಮತ್ತು 13 ರಂದು ಆಚರಿಸಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಮಾರಂಭದ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಕರಾಗಿ ಇನ್ಫೋಸಿಸ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾದ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಡಾ. ಸುಧಾಮೂರ್ತಿಯವರು ಆಗಮಿಸುವರು. ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಗಣ್ಯ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಅನೇಕ ಗಣ್ಯಮಾನ್ಯರು ಗೌರವಾನ್ವಿತ ಅತಿಥಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳುವರು.
ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವದ ಸವಿನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ ಕಟ್ಟಡ ಕಟ್ಟಿಸುವ ಮಹದಾಸೆ ನಮ್ಮದಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ನಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ವೆಚ್ಚ 10 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂಪಾಯಿಗಳೆಂದು ಅಂದಾಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಸಮುಚ್ಛಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕೊಠಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರಾಂಗಣ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲು ಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೊಠಡಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಾರ್ಥಕ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣರಾದ ಸರ್ವಶ್ರೀ ಜಿ. ಕೆ. ಹುನಗುಂದ, ವರಕವಿ ಡಾ. ದ.ರಾ.ಬೇಂದ್ರೆ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ ಕೆ.ಎಸ್.ಎನ್. ಅಯ್ಯಂಗಾರ, ಕೀರ್ತಿನಾಥ ಕುರ್ತಕೋಟಿ, ಎಚ್. ಎಸ್. ಹುಯಿಲಗೋಳ, ವ್ಹಿ. ಎಸ್. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಎಚ್. ಎಮ್. ಇನಾಮದಾರ, ವಿ. ಡಿ. ಪುರಂತರ, ಎನ್. ಜಿ. ಹುಲಗಿ, ಎಸ್. ಎನ್. ಸಾವುಕಾರ, ಬಿ. ಟಿ. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಎಮ್. ಎಸ್. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಎಲ್. ಬಿ. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ ಕೆ. ಜಿ. ಕುಲಕರ್ಣಿ, ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಎಲ್. ಎಚ್. ದೂದಿಹಳ್ಳಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ಸಮರ್ಪಣಾ ಭಾವದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ನಾಮಕರಣ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವರ ನೆನಪನ್ನು ಚಿರಸ್ಮರಣೀಯಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಿದೆ.
ವಿದ್ಯಾದಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವದ ಈ ಚಾರಿತ್ರಿಕ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡ ಎಲ್ಲ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳ ಉದಾರ ದೇಣಿಗೆಯೇ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಉದ್ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಉದಾರ ದಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಚಿರಋಣಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಾನಿಗಳು ಕೋಶಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಅಥವಾ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ NRO Account ಮೂಲಕ ದೇಣಿಗೆ ನೀಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ವಿನಂತಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.
ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಸಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನೀಡಿದ ದೇಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಖಾತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಮೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುವುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ವಿನಿಯೋಗಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು.
