V D S  SMT S.P.H GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL,  GADAG

Realizing the importance of Girls Education, Vidya Dan Samiti established a separate Girls High School during the year 1946. Then the Education Minister of Mysore State Sri. Kadidal Manjappa laid the foundation stone and then the Secretary Shri. Bhimrao Huilgol took special interest in constructing the Girls High School.  The inauguration ceremony took place on 20/07/1957. Gradually other rooms were built.  The Secretary himself donated Rs.10,000/- and completed the building.  So the Samiti decided to name it as ‘Smt. Savitribai Pandurangrao Huilgol Girls School’ in remembrance of his beloved mother. 

Sri.H.S.Huilgol served as the first Principal and then followed by the esteemed Principals like Smt.L.H.Doodihalli, Sri. B.T. Kulkarni and Sri. M.S. Kulkarni. Later the High School was separated from P.U.C.section and the Samiti appointed as Head Masters like Smt.G.N.Kulkarni,Sri.R.D.Nanjanagud, Smt. R.M. Mundaragi and Sri. M.T. Divatar.  All the Principals and Head Masters worked with zest and zeal and contributed a lot to the institution. Today Sri.G.S.Kalyani is serving as Head Master along with 18 teaching staff and 2non-teaching staff, besides two part time workers.  Today around 550 girls are studying in this school. 

Those who have studied here have crowned good positions across the world and our Samiti is really proud of them. Students have excelled in various fields and have contributed for the betterment of Society.  

MESSAGE  OF  THE  HEAD  MASTER

Women education is very important in the present world. In order to build a strong nation it is very important that every girl child gets quality education. With this background, Vidya Dan Samiti which has completed a century is having a separate Institution for Girls Education committed to imparting cultured education with heritage, good tradition and good life values to shape capable citizens of tomorrow.
